Our Story: The Roots of Two Otters Homestead

For us, growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, gardening, hunting, and raising and preserving our own food wasn’t a hobby—it was simply a way of life. So much has changed since those days, and here at Two Otters Homestead, we are looking to preserve that valuable life while sharing the decades of hands-on knowledge we’ve gained. Our goal is to give you the confidence and practical steps to start your own self-sustaining journey.Write your text here...

Now, 45 years later, the small private school is closed, and we have settled into our small patch of land. This homestead, which we call Two Otters, is currently home to a flock of laying hens, quail, rabbits, and pigs. We also manage an extensive garden where we cultivate many different varieties of vegetables—not just tomatoes! All of this keeps us busy as we work to raise our own food supply. Growing up, we were always surrounded by parents and grandparents who gardened, hunted, and worked with their hands. In part, it is that beautiful heritage that we want to keep alive and show you how to recreate, one simple step at a time.
