Raising Pigs: A New Journey for 2026

We would like to invite you to join us as we venture into raising pigs on the homestead.

Unlike our chickens and rabbits, this is new territory for us. We will be learning as we go, and we want to take you along for every step of the process—from the initial setup to the final harvest.

The Plan

Starting in 2026, we are adding 2 feeder pigs to the farm.

• Arrival: We are planning for the pigs to arrive around February.

• Goal: We intend to raise them through the spring and summer and process them in the Fall of 2026.

Building the Infrastructure

Over the next 2 months, we will be posting updates as we build out the necessary infrastructure to get ready for the new additions. We will be documenting every step, including:

• Building the paddock and fencing.

• Constructing the shelter.

• Setting up reliable waterers and feeders.

Learning Together

We have never raised pigs before, so this will be a true learning experience for Two Otters Homestead. We are looking forward to sharing the wins, the challenges, and the lessons learned.
